La Comisión Nacional de Béisbol anunció la preselección cubana a la IV Copa del Caribe de Bahamas 2022, a celebrarse del 4 al 11 de diciembre. El grupo estará al mando del pinero Armando Jhonson y está integrado por cuatro recepotores, siete jugadores de cuadro, igual cantidad de jardineros y 15 lanzadores; el conjunto quedará conformado por 24 peloteros.
En el evento participarán también los anfitriones, Islas Vírgenes, Haití, Puerto Rico y Curacao; se otorgarán dos plazas para los Juegos Centroamericanos y del Caribe de San Salvador 2023, para los cuales está clasificada por su posición en el ranking.
El comisionado nacional de la disciplina, Juan Reinaldo Pérez Pardo, explicó que el torneo se empleará como engranaje con vistas a los importantes compromisos que se aproximan, también insistió en que esta no es la preselección al V Clásico Mundial de Béisbol, aunque hay figuras de interés para ese y otros eventos.

Para finalizar comentó que la conformación de la presenta pre-nómina se consensuó con los directores de la I Liga Élite del Béisbol Cubano y se trató de afectar lo menos posible a sus equipos.
Cuba debutará el domingo 4 de diciembre ante el Curacao (10:00 am), el lunes rivalizará con Haití (03:00 pm), el martes lo hará ante los locales (07:00 pm), el miércoles con Puerto Rico (03:00 pm) y cerrarán ante Isla Vírgenes el jueves 8 (11:00 am). Las semifinales se realizarán cruzadas (1ero vs 4to y 2do vs. 3ero) el sábado 10 y la Final será el 11 de diciembre a las 03:00 pm.
En esta preselección se encuentran 6 peloteros que participaron en la Copa del Caribe que se celebró en Curazao en 2021, son ellos: Santiago Torres, Yoelkis Gubiert, Luis Vicente Mateo, Renner Rivero, Pavel Hernández y Jonathan Carbó.
Junto a Jhonson (DT) estarán en el cuerpo técnico Eddy Cajigal y Donald Duarte como coachs, Pedro Luis Lazo y José Elosegui al frente de los serpentineros y Luis Giraldo Casanova viajará como Gloria deportiva invitada.
